Symptoms:

The main symptom of ITBS is sharp burning pain on the outer side of the knee, just below the joint line. Pain may be mainly at the side of the knee, or it might radiate up the side of the thigh. The pain gets worse with continued movement, and gets better with rest. The knee snaps feel like it "snaps" when it is bent and then straightened. Some individuals may also experience a "snapping hip," in which the muscles that cross the outside of the hip feel like they snap or click while walking or running. Pain worsens when you run up hills, down hills, up stairs, down stairs, biking, and when walking or running or doing any exercise that causes your legs to move.
